Heavener School on the rise in US News’ latest business school rankings

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Heavener School of Business rose to No. 13 among U.S. public schools on U.S. News & World Report’s2022 Best Undergraduate Business Programs” rankings released Monday, September 13. This is the third consecutive top 15 ranking among publics for the Heavener School on U.S. News’ list of the best undergraduate programs in business schools across the nation.

Among all U.S. undergraduate programs, the Heavener School also rose to the No. 23 position, up one spot from its No. 24 ranking last year. It continues to be the highest-ranking undergraduate business program in the state of Florida.

U.S. News & World Report also reported on Monday that for the fifth year in a row, the University of Florida has risen in the Top Public Schools rankings, reaching the No. 5 position, an extraordinary milestone in the university’s history. UF’s steady climb exemplifies a unified and sustained commitment at all levels, from Gov. Ron DeSantis, the Florida Legislature, our congressional representatives, the Board of Governors and the UF Board of Trustees to the thousands of students, faculty, staff, alumni and donors who strive daily to contribute to the university’s culture of excellence and integrity in learning, discovery and invention.

UF has advanced a record nine spots on the public university list since 2017. On the U.S. News National Universities list, which includes both public and private institutions, UF ranked No. 28, a rise of 22 spots during the same period.

“It’s an honor to join the University of Florida as a program on the rise in the latest rankings from U.S. News,” said Erica Studer-Byrnes, Assistant Dean and Director of the Heavener School of Business. “With our focus on providing learning experiences inside and outside of the classroom, our burgeoning culture of developing inclusive future leaders, and our efforts to provide our students with a modern, cutting-edge business education, the Heavener School is positioning itself for an even stronger place among the best undergraduate business schools in the country.”

Five of the Heavener School’s programs were recognized as part of the specialty rankings, with four being ranked in the top 10 among publics. Real Estate ranked fourth, Accounting ranked seventh and Marketing and Finance both ranked eighth. Management also finished in the 16th spot among U.S. publics.

To calculate these rankings, U.S. News surveyed deans and senior faculty members at each of the 514 undergraduate business programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in the spring and early summer of 2021. These deans and faculty members – two at each AACSB-accredited business program – were asked to rate the quality of all programs with which they were familiar on a scale from 1 (marginal) to 5 (distinguished). The undergraduate business school rankings were based solely on the judgements of deans and senior faculty members at peer institutions.

For the specialty rankings, U.S. News asked deans and senior faculty to nominate up to 15 of the best programs among each specialty area. A school had to receive seven or more top-15 nominations in a specific specialty area to be included on the list.
