Phil Podsakoff receives international award for lifetime outstanding teaching contributions

Philip Podsakoff, Hyatt and Cici Brown Chair in Business at the University of Florida Warrington College of Business, is the recipient of the 2025 Distinguished Teaching Contributions Award from the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP). He will be recognized at the 2025 SIOP Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado this April.

The Distinguished Teaching Contributions Award recognizes and individual who has a record of excellence in teaching I-O psychology, developing students and serving the teaching community.

“I am truly honored to receive this award for my teaching contributions,” Podsakoff said. “Although my professional identity is that of a researcher, I enjoy teaching immensely and I am pleased that students feel that they can learn and apply the knowledge that they acquire in my classes.”

This is the 28th teaching award that Podsakoff has received in his career.

He has received teaching awards at virtually all levels, including national, university, alumni, Ph.D., MBA, undergraduate and executive education, but this is Podsakoff’s first international teaching award.

Podsakoff joined the Warrington faculty 11 years ago after serving as the John F. Mee Chair of Management at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. Today, Podsakoff is the faculty chair of the Warrington Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program and teaches MBA courses in organizational behavior and Ph.D. and DBA courses in research methods.

He is the co-author of two books and several chapters on the topic of organizational citizenship behaviors, and he has published over 80 journal articles. His research has been cited over 112,000 times in the Web of Science and over 214,000 times in Google Scholar.

Podsakoff has served on several editorial review boards, including the Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Personnel Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and The Leadership Quarterly.

Podsakoff is only the second scholar to receive both the SIOP Distinguished Scientific Contributions Award and the SIOP Distinguished Teaching Contributions Award.

SIOP’s mission is to enhance human well-being and performance in organizational and work settings by promoting the science, practice, and teaching of industrial-organizational psychology. One of SIOP’s main goals is to identify opportunities for expanding and developing the science and practice of industrial-organizational psychology. It has its roots in Division 14 of the American Psychological Association, which was founded in 1946 and currently has over 9,000 members worldwide.
