A decade of giving
Jimmy Page (BSBA ’99) has made a habit of supporting his alma mater every December for more than 10 years.
James “Jimmy” Page (BSBA ’99) considers himself lucky enough to be born a Gator. The son of a University of Florida Levin College of Law graduate, Page didn’t think twice about earning his own degree from UF.
With an interest in finance, Page knew he’d be set up for success thanks to the Warrington College of Business’s excellent reputation. A campus environment with strong school spirit and athletics program were just the cherry on top.
His Warrington experience proved to be just what Page needed for a career in finance and investment banking, the industry Page has been in since he completed his degree. In his current role, Page serves as Managing Director at Houlihan Lokey, where he advises companies in the financial services industry on M&A, capital raising and financial restructuring transactions.
Page sees a direct link between his personal and professional development and the outstanding education he received at the University of Florida. For that reason, Page has made a point to consistently make a gift for over a decade to the Warrington College of Business in December to show his appreciation.
“My years at UF were formative in nature, so my appreciation for the university is consistent and longstanding,” he said. “My approach was to start small but be consistent and hope to increase the amount of financial support over time as my career progressed.”
Page focuses his giving through a credit card online due to the ease but noted that donations with appreciated securities could be a smart option for the future given the tax benefits.
No matter the method, Page believes that his gift to the University of Florida will make an impact today and in the future.
“It’s really a small token of my appreciation for all UF did for me and a desire to support the next generation of students,” he said.
