Heavener students honored with prestigious awards

GAINESVILLE, Fla. –  The Heavener School of Business inducted two new students into the Heavener Hall of Fame and awarded four of students with the Distinction in Leadership and Service Award at its annual Heavener Leaders Awards Banquet on April 25.

Kristiana Caine and John Goracke were the latest Heavener students to be installed into the Heavener Hall of Fame, while Abigail Fielding, Charles Keegan, Anna Kelly and Lauren Lindsay were the newest recipients of the Distinction in Leadership and Service Award.

“We are proud to recognize the students being inducted into the Heavener Hall of Fame and honored with the Distinction in Leadership and Service Award,” said Alex Sevilla, Associate Dean and Director of the Heavener School of Business. “These students personify the best of the Heavener School, having demonstrated exemplary leadership and served their community with excellence. Their achievements have made an immense impact at the University of Florida, and we can’t wait to see how they flourish in their future careers.”

The Heavener Hall of Fame is reserved for undergraduate business students who have shown truly superior leadership and achievement through their activities and scholarship while members of the College community. Eligible students must have a minimum 3.5 UF GPA and be in good standing with UF. Students are also judged on scholarship, campus leadership, campus involvement and service to the College or UF.

The Distinction in Leadership and Service Award is presented to students who demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to the College through participation in student organizations and other extracurricular activities. The students have demonstrated a strong commitment to the College and made a significant positive impact on its students.

Caine, a combined marketing undergraduate and information systems and operations management graduate student, has interned at CSX as a financial planning and analysis intern. She is involved with Heavener Leadership Challenge, Business Undergraduate Mentorship Program, Warrington Welcome and Florida Leadership Academy.

Goracke, a combined finance undergraduate and international business graduate student, has interned at Protiviti Consulting and Lockheed Martin in the area of finance. He is involved with the Heavener International Case Competition, the Business Administration College Council, Career and Academic Peer Mentors, Florida Leadership Academy, and is a member of the UF International Case Competition Team.

Fielding, a finance major and real estate minor, has completed internships in finance at Protiviti Consulting, Wells Fargo and Modera Wealth Management. She is a University Scholar and is involved with a number of organizations, including Career and Academic Mentors, Warrington Welcome, Business Undergraduate Mentorship Program, Business Ethics Ambassadors, Heavener Leadership Challenge and Enactus.

Keegan, a combined finance undergraduate and international business graduate student, has interned at Gartner as a business development coordinator. He is involved with Career and Academic Peer Mentors, Warrington Diplomats and Florida Business Leadership Society.

Kelly, a marketing major, has interned at Gartner as a business development coordinator. She is involved with Warrington Diplomats, Florida Leadership Academy and the Heavener International Case Competition.

Lindsay, a marketing major, has interned at PepsiCo and Bimbo Bakeries in the sales department. She is involved with Enactus, Warrington Welcome, Business Undergraduate Mentorship Program and Heavener Leadership Challenge.
