Warrington professor receives prestigious INFORMS Information Systems Society Early Career Award
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dr. Anuj Kumar, Matherly Professor of the University of Florida Warrington College of Business, received the prestigious 2018 Sandra A. Slaughter Early Career Award conferred by the INFORMS Information Systems Society. This award recognizes the potential leaders of the next generation of information systems academics who are on a path towards making outstanding intellectual contributions to the information systems discipline.
The Sandra A. Slaughter Early Career Award is given annually to a select few of information systems researchers from across the world who have made the multi-dimensional nature of intellectual contributions and paid attention to a variety of scholarly contributions, including, but not limited to:
- Emerging body of thematic and high impact research in the form of publications that are likely to make a significant impact on theory, research and practice
- Evidence of growing intellectual leadership in the discipline as reflected in editorial appointments, particularly of INFORMS journals
- Other evidence of intellectual contributions that provide a platform for future success
“It is a great honor to receive this prestigious award from the INFORMS community,” Dr. Kumar said. “This recognition is a big motivation for me to continue to produce impactful research and extend our current understanding on the impact of information systems on individuals, firms and the overall society.”
Dr. Kumar has made significant contributions in understanding customer behavior in omnichannel retail and the effects of product recommendation networks in digital marketing. His research has been published in the top tier management journals such as Management Science, Information Systems Research, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, and Management Information Systems Quarterly. His research has won several awards, such as runner up of INFORMS-Industry Studies Association Best Paper Prize and best paper awards at the premier conferences in the area of Information Systems. Dr. Kumar has also won several competitive grants for his research from the industry, Wharton Customer Analytics group, and the Marketing Science Institute.
