Heavener School of Business climbs into top 15 among publics in U.S. News rankings
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Heavener School of Business continued to rise on the U.S. News & World Report’s “2018 Best Undergraduate Business Programs” rankings list to the No. 14 position among U.S. public undergraduate business programs.
The Heavener School, which ranked 17th among publics last year, also rose to No. 24 among all U.S. undergraduate programs. It continues to be the highest-ranking undergraduate business program in the state of Florida.
“We are honored to be recognized by U.S. News and our peers as one to the nation’s top business schools,” said Dr. Alex Sevilla, Associate Dean and Director of the Heavener School of Business. “Our performance this year is particularly gratifying as this is our highest ranking in the U.S. News & World Report since 2000. These results are a clear signal of the overall excellence that defines the Heavener School of Business at the University of Florida, excellence delivered by our world class faculty, our exceptional Heavener team and, of course, our amazing Heavener students.”
Five of the Heavener School’s specialty programs were recognized, four of which were ranked in the top 10 among publics. Real Estate ranked fifth, Accounting ranked sixth, and Marketing and Finance ranked eighth. Entrepreneurship also finished in the 13th spot among U.S. publics.
Heavener’s continued impressive standing in the U.S. News’ rankings reflects the School’s commitment to providing students a dynamic and enriching experience. In addition to a rigorous and diverse curriculum, the Heavener School offers impactful career and leadership programs, more than 30 student organizations, study abroad opportunities on four continents, and numerous other experiential learning opportunities. Heavener students are also required to complete a study abroad experience or professional internship to graduate. These initiatives have resulted in Heavener students securing coveted full-time careers at some of the world’s top companies.
To calculate these rankings, U.S. News surveyed deans and senior faculty members at each undergraduate business program accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). These deans and faculty members – two at each AACSB-accredited business program – were asked to rate the quality of all program with which they were familiar on a scale from 1 (marginal) to 5 (distinguished). The undergraduate business school rankings were based solely on the judgments of deans and senior faculty members at peer institutions.
