Four students honored for leadership, service at Heavener Leaders Awards Banquet

The Heavener School also recognized a number of student organizations for their accomplishments during the year.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. –  The Heavener School of Business inducted a new student into the Heavener Hall of Fame and awarded three students the Distinction in Leadership and Service Award at its annual Heavener Leaders Awards Banquet.  

Brooke Lynch was the latest Heavener student to be installed into the Heavener Hall of Fame. Claire Patterson, Dorian Simpkins and Isabella Montoya-Bedoya were the newest recipients of the Distinction in Leadership and Service Award.

The Heavener Hall of Fame is reserved for undergraduate business students who have shown truly superior leadership and achievement through their activities and scholarship while members of the College community. Eligible students must have a minimum 3.5 UF GPA and be in good standing with UF. Students are also judged on scholarship, campus leadership, campus involvement and service to the College or UF.

The Distinction in Leadership and Service Award is presented to students who demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to the College through participation in student organizations and other extracurricular activities. The students have demonstrated a strong commitment to the College and made a significant positive impact on its students.

Lynch earned her undergraduate degree in marketing and will complete her master’s in international business this year. Upon graduation, she will be joining Proctor & Gamble as an account executive. Previously, she completed an internship with Proctor & Gamble, Raymond James and the Omnibus Theatre in London. In her time at Heavener, she served as a Career and Peer (CAP) Mentor, Vice President of Alumni Affairs for Women of Warrington, and as a member of the Heavener International Case Competition and Florida Leadership Academy.

Patterson completed her undergraduate degrees in business, economics, and sustainability studies in 2021 and will complete her master’s degree in international business this spring. She is joining Boston Consulting Group as an associate. During her time in the College, she has been a part of several student organizations including Career and Peer (CAP) Mentors, Warrington Diplomats, Women of Warrington, Business Undergraduate Mentorship Program, Florida Leadership Academy, Heavener Leadership Challenge and as a member of the Heavener International Case Team. She previously was an intern with the Black Box Theatre Institute in Toronto and with Clean Energy Pipeline in London.

Simpkins is a business management major and is minoring in English. She has completed internships with JPMorgan Chase, Turing Talent and at the Office of the Mayor in Tallahassee. During her time at Warrington, she founded and served as the president of Black Students in Business as well as a member of the Warrington Diplomats and Business Ethics Case Competition team. She is among the university-wide recipients of the Outstanding Leader Award from the UF Alumni Association.

Montoya-Bedoya is completing her bachelor’s degree in information systems and minoring in Portuguese and Latin American Studies. She will join Meta as a global operations specialist upon graduation this spring. At Warrington, she served as the president of Women of Warrington, co-president of Latin American Women in Business and as a member of the Heavener International Case Competition team. She completed internships with Univision Communications, Baldrige Group and Facebook.
