GSIF experiences another strong year

The Gator Student Investment fund (GSIF) completed another impressive year of growing the fund and preparing students for life after graduation.

GSIF is a student-managed investment fund that gives members a realistic asset management experience. As of early 2025, the value of the fund was $1,242,000.

The fund also gives annual donations to the Warrington College of Business and the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program, which assists historically low-income, first-generation college students in meeting their college costs.

In early 2025, GSIF distributed $37,000  to the Machen Florida Opportunities Scholars Program and $12,000 to Warrington.

The asset management experience provided in GSIF gives finance students hands-on experience investing real money. They’re prepared for internships and jobs by what they learn in GSIF. For Portfolio Manager Eliot Glein (BSBA ’24, MSF ’25), it provided the tactical skills needed for his career while also providing a strong network.

“GSIF has impacted my life in more ways than I ever could have imagined,” Glein said. “When I came to UF, I had very limited finance knowledge, but GSIF quickly sparked a passion for investing and allowed me to speak with older students about career paths. It taught me the fundamentals of investing, but it also gave me a stronger work ethic, opened doors to an incredible alumni network and introduced me to many of my closest friends.”

Glein turned his experience in GSIF into a full-time role as an investment banking analyst at JP Morgan in New York City.

“GSIF gives an unmatched learning experience to students,” he said. “I am very grateful to have spent my time in college in such a rewarding organization.”
