“One thing that came up time and again during the recruiting process was the collegial and supportive culture among the faculty here. That was very easy to see during my interviews… which is pretty remarkable, given that all those interviews were virtual! I think if you can detect a strong culture over Zoom or Teams, you know that you have a chance to join a really special place.
The thing I’m most looking forward to in the assistant professor role are the additional opportunities for mentoring and leadership. I’ve been fortunate to have great mentors in both my professional and academic career, and I hope that through teaching new classes and helping students, I can pass some of the things I’ve learned on to others… and I look forward to the many lessons I will learn in the process, too!”
