GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dr. Liangfei Qiu recently added another award for excellence in research to his portfolio. The associate professor in the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management has been named the Management Information Systems (MIS) Quarterly Outstanding Reviewer of the Year. He is the first recipient of the award from the University of Florida.
The MIS Quarterly Outstanding Reviewer of the Year Award acknowledges the outstanding contribution of reviewers, whose insightful and supportive feedback has helped authors substantially improve their papers. The award is selected by the editorial board of MIS Quarterly, which is one of the top journals in the field of information systems and among the journals evaluated to determine both the UT-Dallas Top 100 Business School Research Rankings and the Financial Times’ Research Rank included in its Global MBA, EMBA and Online MBA rankings.
“I am happy that I can contribute to our academic community,” Qiu said. “A key component of the academic peer-review process is the quality of reviews. I am excited that my service is recognized by a top journal in our field.”
In addition to his award, Qiu has been invited to join the editorial board for MIS Quarterly as an associate editor. He will begin his time on the MIS Quarterly editorial board in January 2021, where he will also be the first representative from UF Warrington.
“I am thrilled to join the MIS Quarterly editorial board as an associate editor and work with admired academic giants in the board,” he added. “It is a testament to my scholarly records and contributions to the field. As an editorial board member, my role is to nurture and advance our field’s top scholarship.”
Qiu has been with the Warrington College of Business since 2014. His research interests include economics of information systems, prediction markets, telecommunications networks, and social networks and social media platforms.

Slaughter Early Career Award, and in 2018, he was named among the winners of the UF Excellence Award for Assistant Professors and the Best Information Systems Research Reviewer Award for Information Systems Research journal.
