UF Warrington management department No. 1 in productivity per faculty again
The 14 tenure-track faculty members of the Department of Management at the University of Florida Warrington College of Business are the most prolific group of research producers per faculty on the Texas A&M/University of Georgia Rankings of Management Department Research Productivity.
The ranking, which measures faculty research productivity in the field of management across business schools, is the UF management department’s third consecutive No. 1 ranking of publications per faculty. Despite the department’s small size, its faculty members averaged 1.21 publications per faculty in the past year.
Of the 89 universities included on the list of U.S. schools, UF’s management department was the No. 2 producer of research (just behind the No. 1 Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania), with 17 publications across eight of the field’s top-tier journals, including Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Applied Psychology, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Personnel Psychology, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes.
For the first time, in partnership with the National University of Singapore, management departments across the world were ranked for their research productivity by Texas A&M and the University of Georgia. UF’s management department earned the No. 4 spot out of 174 ranked schools.
“We are happy to see that our productivity is ranked at No. 4 at the global scale,” said Mo Wang, Associate Dean for Research and Strategic Initiatives, Lanzillotti-McKethan Eminent Scholar Chair, Chair for the Department of Management and Director of the Human Resource Research Center. “Considering that the schools ranked ahead of us are all at least thrice of our faculty size, we are extremely proud of our achievement.”
The addition of the 2022 rankings brought Warrington’s management department up to the No. 3 position on the 5-Year Total ranking out of 150 public and private institutions, measuring research produced from 2018-2022. The management department also earned the No. 1 spot on the 5-Year Total list of publications per faculty, with 70 pieces of research and averaging 5.53 published papers per faculty member.
