Larah Doyle: In 2012, Doyle began her professional career with the University of Florida as a member of the Registrar’s Office. They worked with both the student records and registration teams for more than two years. During this time, they took great satisfaction in assisting individual students, but sought to serve students in a more impactful way, allowing for more long-term student relationships. Larah joined the Fisher School of Accounting in early 2015 and has been advising for over seven years. Over time, her advising philosophy evolved from verifying students have correct schedules and focusing on academic success, to ensuring students are satisfied with their academic experience, feel enriched, and safe, within their university and larger Gainesville communities. Their proudest professional achievement is the trust their students have in her, and the comfort student feel in approaching them with candor and confidence.

Allison Gatsche: Gatsche is in her second year as an Assistant Director for the Academic & Career Advising team in the Heavener School of Business. Prior to her current role, she served as an Academic & Career Advisor for two years. She has a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences from UF as well as her Master of Education and Education Specialist degrees, completing all coursework for School Counseling & Guidance and Mental Health Counseling. She has had the opportunity to advise students in three different colleges across the University of Florida campus during her eight-year tenure as an advisor. In 2017, she was recognized as the Advisor of the Year for the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering.

As a Gainesville native and triple Gator grad herself, she is passionate about serving undergraduate students and partnering with them as they achieve academic and professional success. During her time at Heavener, she was an integral part of the team that created and launched the Heavener Peer Advising program. Her focus now is to advise prospective and current undergraduate students pursuing a combination degree through one of the Hough Specialized Master’s degree programs.

Always seeking opportunities to challenge herself, she became a certified practitioner for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) in 2020. She has taught Warrington Welcome for the past four years, served as the Chair for UF’s Undergraduate Advising Council from 2017-2019, and has spent the last six summers working as a Preview Advisor for incoming freshmen.

Bobby Carnes: Carnes is Assistant Professor in the Fisher School of Accounting. He teaches three graduate-level courses including Auditing I and II and Accounting Regulation. Michael Cook Teaching Excellence Award and, as a Ph.D. student at Pennsylvania State University, the 2016-2017 Ossian R. MacKenzie Teaching Award.

Carnes is a Certified Public Accountant and received his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University, master’s in accounting from the University of Notre Dame and his bachelor’s degree in economics with an emphasis in accounting from the University of California – Santa Barbara. Away from Warrington, Carnes, enjoys time with his wife, who is an Alachua County Public Schools psychologist, and their three children. He is also a den leader and the treasurer for the Pack 371 Cub Scouts of Gainesville.

She began advising students in 2012 and since then has been an academic, study abroad and student organization advisor, course instructor, campus work supervisor, graduate coordinator, mentor and advocate for hundreds of students. This year marks five years working with graduate business students. Academic and career success are parts of a greater whole, Kim strives to help students becomes the very best version of themselves by pushing boundaries and investing in relationships. She challenges students to step out, listen, explore and create connections with all kinds of people and in all different spaces. Her cross-cultural experiences within the US and abroad strongly influence the vision she has for students. During her undergraduate studies in Georgia and before relocating to Florida, Kim spent time living in Finland, Thailand and South Korea – all far from rural Nebraska, where she was born and raised.

This year also marks a significant milestone in Kim’s career at UF. In a competitive selection process, she was selected for the 2021-2022 UF Leadership Academy. The program prepares UF faculty and staff for higher-level campus responsibilities, exposes them to a deeper understanding of the complex structure at UF and brings them into a leadership community of engaged colleagues.
