Teaching has been a lifelong passion of mine and when the opportunity came up to be able pursue teaching full-time, especially at the Warrington College of Business – I just couldn’t resist. I really enjoyed my time in practice at EY – I grew so much as a professional; however, looking back – I realize the days I enjoyed most at EY were the days I was mentoring the seniors and staff on my teams, helping clients work through issues, or teaching introductory tax to our staff and interns. Days where I was in some shape or form – teaching. Prior to EY, when I was at UF – the first real jobs I held were directly related to teaching – I was a Calculus 1 tutor at Broward Teaching Center and then later became a student assistant for the Fisher School of Accounting for a variety of classes. In my spare time, I was also hosting free accounting reviews and running Facebook study groups to answer questions. Overall, I think that drive – of wanting to learn, process information, and then share with others – has always just been a really innate instinct for me.

I’m most looking forward to getting to know and work with our students and to ultimately be part of their journey in achieving their academic and career goals. I really aspire to break down a lot of this material and make concepts less daunting and more engaging. Ideally, I’d like to also leverage my experience from practice and expose students to the numerous opportunities that are available to them if they pursue an accounting degree or at the very least, have an understanding of accounting.”

The programs and people in Warrington bring the level of engagement, excellence and innovation that fosters that kind of thinking. The transition here has been both a steep learning curve and exciting exploration. My family settled in South Florida in the 30s. I love the university and the state. I have family in Gainesville and have always loved north central Florida.
